semester 1 ~ Final
Sunrise By Claude Monet
Life & Training ~ Claude Monet
Claude Monet was a late 19th century French artist. He was born in Paris and studied at the Swiss Academy. Persuaded by his father Monet studied painting at that academy and also worked with many other artists Frédéric Basille and Alfred Sisley. After a while Monet developed a new style of art, he moved to London to sell his art work and met the art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel who bought his paintings and helped make his impressionist paintings known.
Planning/Construction ~
For my final I wanted to do something ocean or nature related because I like the outdoors. Once I found "Sunrise" by Monet I knew I found the right one. I first thought that a vase would be the best for this project, however I started the project too late to execute this step.

Reflection ~
Overall I am happy with the way this piece turned out. I wish that I had started this project a little bit earlier to kind of get ahead of the game and not have to rush so much. If I were to do this again I would start it earlier so I could have made a vase or something more extravagant than a small platter. I am happy with the way the underglaze turned out, although if I were to do it again I would use a finer width brush to add the details so they look more realistic. Altogether I am happy with the way this piece turned out.
