semester 2 ~ Final

Sunrise By Claude Monet

Planning/Construction ~
For this final I knew I wanted to do something that resonated with me, I chose to do my platter on the 4th of July because it is my favorite holiday! It wasn't the hardest thing to construct, I'd say the most difficult part was getting it to balance even. First I used a slump mold to make the plate, next I made a darted cup and slipped and scored it onto the plate. I then waited for it to become bone dry and smoothed it out with a sponge. I removed it from the mold and fired it.
Reflection ~
Overall I am happy with the way this piece turned out. I started my final as soon as I could, and did not rush it. I am so happy with how this piece came out and I did not run into any hardships that made me rethink this project!
