Unit 6 Projects

This project is my organic shape and choice project. I wanted to make it into a jewelry dish so it could be useful. I rolled out a slab of clay and lifted the edges up, next I took a small loop tool and started to carve it out. I first wanted it to look like a seashell, but somewhere along the way, I messed it up. I just went with the flow and I continued to carved and smooth things out. I fired it once and then glazed it. The color I chose was a mix between green and dark blue. I don't exactly like the color but I do like the dish.

This project is my teapot. I decided to make it a darted project. I rolled out a big slab, measured and cut it into a long piece. I darted the edges of it and it made a squareish object. I then slipped and scored the bottom on, next I put handle on and finally the tea spout. After I smoothed everything out, I made the lid and it is fitted. I fired both the lid and teapot, and then I chose to put lady bugs on it and make it cute and earthy like that. This was my second attempted at making a teapot so overall I really like how this piece came out. However, I was going to add interesting feet, but I accidentally let it become too dry so it ended up not happening.

This is my whimsical treehouse. I rolled out a slab and slipped and scored into a cylinder. I then slipped and scored the door on and the handle. On the back side I carved out a window and used a scouring tool to rough up the whole outside of the piece. I then slipped and scored the lid on and made it curved. I like the base of it and think that part came out well, but I ended up not firing it because everything I ddi to it, I couldn't fix the top of it. So I ended up putting it in the slop bucket.
