Unit 3 Projects

This is my handle on piece. I chose to do a slab but mug because I felt it was the easiest to do and I would use it as well. I started by rolling out a slab and using the bevel tool on the edges. Then I slip and scored the two edges together to make a cylinder. I then added a bottom to it and smoothed it out. I added a handle and fired it. After it was fired I glazed it with white and did the designs. Over all I am very pleased with how this piece came out. If I were to do it again I would make it a little bit taller and wider.

This is my monster. I first built a pinch pot for the main body and did a second smaller pinch pot for the head. I slipped and scored those two pieces together and added the legs and arms. Eventually I added the ears, teeth, eyes, fingers, tail and nose. I fired it and then I glazed it with a lot of different colors. I chose to fire it first instead of doing underglaze because I didn't want it to break. I am overall very pleased with how my master came out because it looks very similar to the picture. If I were to do something different I would make it a little bit bigger.

This is my series of 4. I chose to do plates because my bowls kept cracking and I was getting really annoyed. I used a mold to make them all the same size. I did this project piece by piece rolling out a slab for 4 classes to let it mold and dry, so it took a very long time to finish. I am not pleased with how the purple and blue plates came out I think they look horrible. I like how the other 2 with the designs look. If I were to do this again I would not have glazed the blue and purple those colors I would have done the designs on them.

This is my lidded box. I first rolled out a big slab and a measured 2 pieces to be smaller and the same and 2 pieces to be longer and the same. I slipped and scored all the pieces together. Next to make the lid I made it slightly bigger than the box and put a lip on it to make it fit inside the box. I added a handle. My vision was to make it look like a picnic box however that didn't happen so I ended up slop bucketing it.
