Unit 2 Projects
This is my pinch pot cut in half. First I wedged the clay and rolled it into a ball, next I used my thumb and pushed a large indent into it and begun to stretch the ball of clay out from the bottom to the top. Finally I acquired a nice bowl shape and smoothed it out. I cut it in half with a wire cutter to make sure the sides were nice and even.
I chose to make this small lemon pinch pot because I really like Italian lemons and I was inspired by Pinterest. First I wedged the clay and rolled it into a ball, next I used my thumb and pushed a large indent into it and begun to stretch the ball of clay out from the bottom to the top. I then shaped it into a lemon shape and made the leaves by making a leaf shape and using the needle tool to add detail. I slip and scored the 3 pieces together. Once it was fired once I used glaze to color it, it was then fired again. It now is used as a sponge holder in my kitchen.
I chose to make this dinosaur for my dad, and I made it green since it is his favorite color. First I wedged the clay and rolled it into a ball, next I used my thumb and pushed a large indent into it and begun to stretch the ball of clay out from the bottom to the top, I made 2 of these. I then slipped and scored the pinch pots together. After I smoothed out the seam I made a good size hole in the bottom to make sure it wouldn't blow up. I then made the tail, spikes, and head. I slipped and scored everything together. I used underglaze for the color and fired it.
This is my relief tile. I found this piece this Pinterest. I first rolled out a slab and cut it into a round square shape, next I smoothed it out with a brush. I added the leaves, vines and flower petals by slipping and scoring. I decided not to fire this piece because I didn't really like it.
This my Aztec vase/pot, it is my historic piece. I made a large pinch pot by rolling a ball of clay, indenting the middle and stretching the ball of clay out from bottom to top. I added the top of the vase by rolling out a slab and slipping and scoring it together and manipulating the clay. I made the handles by rolling out 2 pieces of clay and slipping and scoring them on. I decided not to fire this piece because I thought it was pretty ugly.
